The National Population Data Center - Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam developed the VNeID application based on population data, identification, and electronic authentication.
People living and traveling in Vietnam are eligible for the VNeID application.
With the VNeID application, traditional papers can be replaced, citizens can be identified in the digital environment, utilities are provided to help citizens develop digital citizenship, digital government, and a digital society, and medical reports can be declared quickly. Additionally, the application facilitates the tracking of secondary COVID-19 infections and the notification of the public.
The User agrees to give the application access to the following functions by using the Application:
- Internet access via the device used by the user
- Scannable QRcodes on CCCD cards can be scanned with a camera to speed up the process of entering basic information about citizens and scanning the QRcode at the scanning point.
- QRcode images can be stored on the device for inspection when passing through citizen checkpoints using photos, videos, audios and files.
- Provide notifications to the user's device.
Personal information is collected when the user enters data, declares medical information, moves domestically, or declares on behalf of another person with their permission and consent. It includes the following information: full name, phone number, citizen identification number, gender, birth date, permanent address, nationality, health status, location, destination, and exposure to COVID-19. We collect all information by asking users to fill out forms and submit them.
The user is solely responsible for the way he or she uses and inputs information.
Data protection and copyright protection: Data of users will be stored and secured by the National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security and used only for prevention and control of COVID-19, to prevent disease and health problems, not for commercial purposes and not to invade private lives. In order to prevent COVID-19 disease, data may be shared with the Health Authorities and other competent authorities.
Besides the above purposes, the application developer will not collect or use any user information for any other purpose. It will not disclose any information that may harm or violate one's privacy according to Vietnamese law.
- VNeID does not collect information about your location.
- Those infected with COVID-19 and those suspected of being infected by close contact with a person with COVID-19 join the community anonymously. The competent authorities are the only ones who know who is infected.
