Together with your assistant 'Luna/Tsukiko', you visit haunted places to capture ghosts. Your last investigation went horribly wrong, resulting in you being hospitalized.
Now that you have been discharged, you can continue your dangerous adventures at home.
Gameplay
As part of the investigation, you have to capture ghosts. You need to use the tools available to you to locate a ghostly room that is haunted (which changes every time). Once you locate ghost rooms, you can gather evidence to determine the ghost's type. The evidence collection tool allows you to gather 3 evidence out of 7 and shortlist ghost types.
Once all three pieces of evidence are collected, look for any specific ghost behavior, such as puddles on the ground, moving heavy furniture, apparitions in mirrors or TVs, etc. Ghosts behave differently when they hunt. For instance, Shy ghosts do not have a voice during a hunt, Countlanak does not have footsteps when on the hunt, etc. Once you know which ghost type it is, you can mark it in the journal by selecting the ghost.
Now that you know what ghost it is, it's time to find a way to catch it. Note that ghosts can only be caught during a hunt. Every ghost has a specific method to catch it (look in 'Ghostpedia' in your journal for weaknesses). These tools aren't readily available for you, so Luna has to provide them for you.
Try to capture ghosts when they are about to be hunted after you have learned how to use those tools. For ghosts that can't be captured at the beginning of a hunt, use an incense stick first, then try to capture them again until its effect wears off. If you fail to capture them at the beginning of the hunt, you can capture them after it wears off.
After you have used the correct tool, it will reveal its true form and be bound to the ground for a few seconds before disappearing again. While you are trying to capture it, use the 'Hunt' button (Default - X) to try to capture it. A heart icon near the speed bar indicates the speed of the ghost. Once the climax bar is full, you can exit the site by accessing your computer and clicking 'End Investigation'. You will be able to see all captured ghosts at your home.
