Creating the game began in 1999. I wanted to pay homage to Akira Toriyama who drew the 42 Dragon Ball volumes between 1984 and 1995.

As a high school student, I began developing a Ti-89 calculator, but I soon gave up due to the difficulty of programming in assemblers.

Nonetheless, I kept it in mind. In 2004, I converted the basics of my game to a PC using Flash 5 / Actionscript. That's when Dragon Ball Z Tribute was born. One of the original versions can be played on Newgrounds. This is the only time I've posted it on an external site. All the other sites who host it have stolen it, even when they call it "curation". If you like this game, please support the project by playing it here instead of anywhere else.
A regular update has been made to "Dragon Ball Z Devolution" since 2011. It has improved in colors, music, history, and fighters since then. Several talented people joined me on the journey to improve and complete the content. Especially Darvel, who did an incredible job with the music.
This game covered so many sagas and characters in 2019 that it once again changed its name to "Dragon Ball Devolution.".
The death of Flash in 2021 has not affected the project: you don't have to worry: the game now runs on Ruffle, the Flash emulator.
