With more AI and attention to detail than any other game in its genre to date, Firefight is the best real-time simulation of World War II. In order to give tanks realistic-looking tracked vehicle movement, they are modeled with physics engines that have gears, rev counters, speedometers, and brake levers. A sloping surface simulates real-time ricochets of bullets, shells, and shrapnel in 3D. A rank, a name, a weapon, ammunition remaining, heart rate, and fatigue level can be seen on each infantryman. A machine gunner will call for ammunition when they run low and other squad members will rush over with spares. Medics will sprint over to administer first aid to injured men. Off-board artillery can be called in, but they will need to fire a number of ranging shots before the full 8-gun battery opens fire simultaneously.
